INNOCENTS & HOPE: Our future at play.
Photography by David Morin.
January 27 through February 24, 2018

This exhibition is representative of thousands of moments in the travels of retired professor, David Morin's travels from 1978 to the present - from Guatemala to Egypt and Cuba to Peru. Capturing the spirit and energy of children in their natural environment, at play, at rest, at love - brings to awareness the innocence of childhood and the hope of a bright and exciting future for our world.

Born in East Los Angeles, David Morín is a retired professor of mathematics at East Los Angeles College. Prior to working at ELAC, he taught for eleven years at Garfield High School. His passion for travel, photography and archaeology led to an opportunity to serve as photographer for several archaeology projects in Belize and Ecuador. His entire body of work reflects his engagement with peoples around the world and documents the candid moments in their customs and traditions.

Artist’s Statement:
In my travels I have been struck by the innocence of children and the way they interact with one another in play and everyday activities.
One day that innocence will come face to face with the realities of life. I feel that adults everywhere share a responsibility to enable them to face life’s challenges and to nurture them and prepare them to be tomorrow’s leaders and citizens.
